“No one knew coronavirus was going to hit us and stay for this long, so I think having (mConsent) forms that you can customize and send to a patient, and have them fill it out in the comfort of their own home and have it sent to me, and streamline their visit, it’s so much more efficient and less contact. It also cuts down on paper. We’re saving the universe.”

What are Some of the Precautions your Office is Taking During the Pandemic to Keep Everyone Safe?

  • “When we book the appointment and confirm the appointment, we would screen to make sure they (patients) didn’t have any COVID symptoms or (haven’t) travelled on an airplane.”
  • “When they come in we check their temperature and we have a pulse oximeter which measures their Oxygen saturation.”
  • “Once they wash their hands then we can proceed.”
  • “We have full PPE, KN95 masks, level 3 masks, face shields, surgical gowns, and all the rooms are cleaned as if we were doing a surgical procedure; medical grade, anti-bacterial spray and even in the front, I actually have my staff clean the doorknobs and any kind of buzzer that was touched after every single patient.”
  • “Every appointment is about 15 minutes longer so that we don’t get backed up and so that we don’t have more than one person in the waiting room.”

What Instructions Do You Give to Your Patients Prior to the Visit?

  • “If you’ve been in contact with someone who was sick or who might be sick, cancel your appointment. If you don’t feel well on the date of the appointment, just call me and cancel.”
  • “And if one person does end up going on a plane or going somewhere I’ve asked that they quarantine, I’ve asked that they take 2 tests. I want 2 negative tests and the same with my patients if they had been sick.”

How is mConsent Helping your Practice?

  • “When this whole pandemic started I knew I really needed to up my game and mConsent was something that I had heard about and I thought wow this is brillant.”
  • “Why have people touching the clipboard, paper, pens and everything. If that could all be eliminated and a patient walks in and you know who they are, and they go directly into the operatory that’s brilliant to me.”
  • “No one knew coronavirus was going to hit us and stay for this long, so I think having (mConsent) forms that you can customize and send to a patient, and have them fill it out in the comfort of their own home and have it sent to me, and streamline their visit, it’s so much more efficient and less contact. It also cuts down on paper. We’re saving the universe.”

What advice would you give to other dental offices who may be considering mConsent?

  • “To have something like this (mConsent) and have it streamline, it basically decreases the time your staff has to chase patients – ‘You didn’t fill out this one or you have to do this.’”
  • “Then (staff has to) scan it and then shred it and then integrate it into Dentrix. I love that (mConsent) cuts down on the front desk. They’re not going to get backed up and that is key.”
  • “The biggest overhead is the staff, and if you can make their life easier and if everything is more efficient, they could actually pay more attention to the patients or to the treatment plan or calling post-ops and see how they’re doing after a procedure instead of scanning and shredding and chasing people making sure they signed everything.”

Any other Features that Help your Office?

  • “I really like the consents. If there’s going to be an extraction, you can take the iPad into the room and go over it. I think that’s one thing that I’d never want to miss, a form of consent. Once it’s done, it’s there forever. It’s not a paper that’s going to get lost, and not get scanned, and God-forbid there’d be something come out like- ‘I didn’t give you my consent to take my tooth out.’ It’s really important to have that.”
  • “You were able to create a treatment plan on a platform that I haven’t seen before and I love that I can put in the treatment plan, take an iPad, and bring it to the room. Patients always have questions because dentistry is very abstract. ‘Why do I need a root canal?’ In that moment I can have them look at the treatment plan and I can show them models and videos. It is so much easier to present a treatment plan and explain to the patient what needs to be done.”
  • “It’s so well laid out! My office manager loves it! I think that it’s great instead of printing out a treatment plan and then they’re asking me questions in the front, and then I got to bring them in the back, and obviously sometimes they’re just too embarrassed to ask questions.”
